Promotions

In the latest VCGR newsletter they advise that it is now illegal to have playing gaming machines a basis to receive tickets for a promotion, so if you have a promotion where you give customers tickets for winning X amount of credits etc, it is now illegal. I strongly advise you to stop it immediately.

I rang the VCGR and explained a couple of promotions I know of (not mentioning names of course) and they advised that action would be taken against any venue that were still running these types of promotions. It only takes 1 person to read the latest VCGR newsletter, dob you in and you’re in trouble.

I also asked the question about the reverse draw raffles (which is where the last number drawn wins the major prize) and they advised that reverse draws are also illegal which means that the first ticket drawn out must be the major prize winner. They quoted a case where a barrister’s ticket was first drawn out and he didn’t win the major prize. He sued successfully.

Might I suggest you have a look at all your promotions and raffles and make sure they all comply.
